Customize Your Cedar Log Home

Woman and man reviewing log home floor plans with a designer

Tailoring each log home package to our clients is a service we’re proud to offer. We provide the flexibility to create a custom package, allowing you to swap in (or out) any materials you prefer. Perhaps you’d like a metal roof rather than the standard shingle roof included in our package. Or maybe you’d like to include cedar shakes on your dormers and a stone skirting around your foundation.  While these factors depend on building location, and may be provided by other manufacturers, ensuring you get exactly what you want — and nothing you don’t — is our top priority.

Log Styles

Moosehead cedar logs are offered in a variety of sizes in both round and square styles, including 6x6, 6x8, 8x6, and 8x8. Certain log profiles are available in multiple sizes, including our D-logs, flat logs, and chink logs, while others are offered in a single size. For example, our bevel-style log comes in 6x6, our clapboard in 6x8, and our Swedish cope log in 8-inch round.

All of our round and D-log profiles are available in a smooth, milled, or rustic hand-hewn finish — at no additional cost.

Log Profiles

We offer a variety of log profiles to help you achieve the ideal look for your cedar log home. Each of our cedar logs undergoes our rigorous in-house inspection and milling process, ensuring consistent quality, cost, ease of construction, and efficiency. This allows you to let your aesthetic preference lead the way in selecting the right style for your home. For those who prefer a full-round look only in specific spaces, such as a great room, half-log siding can be installed over our insulation to create a full-round look at a lower price point.

Regardless of the style, size, or finish you choose for your home, the quality of our logs remains consistent. Every Moosehead log is meticulously sourced from the heart of a northern white cedar tree, a species known for its exceptional stability and durability. This allows you to confidently select the size that best aligns with your desired aesthetic and budget.

Corner Styles

“Corner styles” refer to how the ends of each cedar log are joined together at the corner of your home. Thanks to our precise, in-house laser cuts, each of our methods ensures an efficient, weathertight seal and straightforward, on-site construction, making aesthetic appeal the driving factor in your selection.
