How it Works

Your Step-by-Step Guide to Cedar Log Home Living

Step 1: Get in Touch

Group of Moosehead Cedar Log Home Employees

We’re easy to reach! You can contact our corporate office or your local dealer through email, phone, Facebook or Instagram, or make an appointment to visit in person at either of our two offices in Dover Foxcroft or Houlton. If you’re not quite sure where to start, simply fill out a contact form here and give us any information you can.

We work with trusted local dealers nationwide to guide you through the building process. If you contact our corporate office first, we’ll help you connect with a dealer in your area.

Step 2: Choose Your Design

The next step is choosing your cedar log home! Take your pick from any of our professionally designed models or start from scratch with your own design. You don’t need to decide every detail yet, just the basics- size and shape, rough layout, and overall style. Any of our models can be adjusted to suit your needs, so feel free to add a porch or expand the pantry- your dealer will make sure it all makes sense before you move on to the next step.

Step 3: Review Your Quote

Once you’ve found a plan you love, you and your dealer will work with our pricing specialist to nail down the cost of your complete materials package. We can also discuss construction services, delivery, and warranty coverage.

Our goal at this phase of the project is to make sure you have the most transparent and comprehensive understanding of cost possible. This gives you the information you need to move forward, or adjust your design to meet your budget. We’ll work with you every step of the way to make it happen.

Step 4: Design Details

It’s time to fine tune your design! Our drafting team will create an initial sketch, and offer two rounds of revisions completely free of charge. This will give you plenty of time to consider every detail without incurring change orders down the road. If you do decide to make more revisions, there may be a nominal design fee to cover the additional time.

Step 5: Make it Official

When your design is just right, we’ll provide you with a contract, terms and conditions, and a set of preliminary plans for your log home to be approved. After you’ve signed the necessary documents and paid a 20% deposit, we’ll start working on the final construction plans and schedule your first delivery!

Step 6: Get Ready to Build

Once you and your dealer have confirmed that the site is ready for delivery, your finances are in order, and all your contact information is up to date, our team will assemble and deliver your first round of materials.

For the sake of efficiency, deliveries are made on an as-needed basis, so you won’t have to worry about storing all your materials before they’re needed. Some items that are manufactured by third parties (like windows, shingles, and insulation) will be ordered and drop shipped once Moosehead Cedar Log Homes has been paid in full. If this doesn’t line up with your building schedule, we may be able to make other arrangements.
